This guide complements our own central sierra guide (see Trails & Tales Of Yosemite & The Central Sierra), covering an area adjacent to the southern portion of the other book with no overlapping hikes.

The guide describes 35 day hikes in the area, with hike description, driving directions, cautions, difficulty rating, topo map and supporting information for each hike. it also covers two hikes in the Sierra Foothills Conservancy. The book includes 15 pages about the local flora, including 25 lovely watercolor images of the flora, plus a short section on local geology. Three oral histories of early settlers and travelers also provide interest.
