Monterey Bay Map (2005)Bluewater Maps
View a larger image of this mapView a detail image from this mapThis 2005 map is different from but similar to the new Monterey Bay map that will debut in summer 2009 in the Coastal California series. It is larger as well. The creator of all these maps did ocean floor mapping for the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Research Institute for several years, so he knows this territory very well. Map spans from Big Basin State Park in the Santa Cruz Mountains in the northwest and east to the Diablo Range, Gabilan Range, Morgan Hill and Gilroy. Southern edge spans from Point Sur on the coast and Ventana Double Cone Peak in Ventana Wilderness almost to Greenfield in the Salinas Valley, where Salinas and Chualar are also shown. The map's most dramatic feature is the immense Monterey Submarine Canyon, a striking and dramatic feature. Premium coated paper map, 24" x 35", 1 inch represents 2.1 miles, sea floor has 200 foot contours, June 2005. Published by Bluewater Maps. $21.95 Also available: Monterey Bay Map 2005 (laminated) for $28.95 Laminated map, 3-mil gloss, 1 inch represents about 2.1 miles, sea floor has 200 foot contours, 24" x 35", June 2005.
